Gee is Doc A$$H### gonna redeem himself?
BTW Jett looks much older here.
Centcomm 20th Mar 2014, 1:54 AM edit delete reply

he might as for Jet.. dont know why hes the exact same i used before >_< must be lighting..
Miyto 20th Mar 2014, 12:42 PM edit delete reply
Or perhaps comparative height?
We hadn't really seen him next to another man before, and the camera angles are accentuating the difference
Sheela 20th Mar 2014, 9:02 PM edit delete reply

Nah, it's the shadows making him look older.

As for Granger, there may have been some previous speculation that he has more knowledge than the rest combined. It would seem wasteful to not make use of it.
cattservant 20th Mar 2014, 12:09 AM edit delete reply

Apparently Auto-Doc has an unexpected kindred spirit on this case!
Centcomm 20th Mar 2014, 1:54 AM edit delete reply

Apperently :D
Sheela 20th Mar 2014, 9:02 PM edit delete reply

The truth shall set Granger free ?
cattservant 20th Mar 2014, 12:20 AM edit delete reply

Is the neurosurgeon a significant new character?
Centcomm 20th Mar 2014, 1:54 AM edit delete reply

maybe !
jamie59 20th Mar 2014, 12:23 AM edit delete reply

This keeps getting crazier.
Centcomm 20th Mar 2014, 1:54 AM edit delete reply

layers .. like a onion :D
Falanin 20th Mar 2014, 3:54 AM edit delete reply
Or a parfait!
velvetsanity 20th Mar 2014, 7:01 PM edit delete reply

Or like an ogre? (two year old niece living with us, lots and lots of kids movies watched...)
Sheela 20th Mar 2014, 9:03 PM edit delete reply

Or a donkey !
plymayer 20th Mar 2014, 12:25 AM edit delete reply

NOW he is on her side?

Or just covering his rear.
cattservant 20th Mar 2014, 12:38 AM edit delete reply

He's a multitasker!
velvetsanity 20th Mar 2014, 12:38 AM edit delete reply

I'd say it's more that now that he actually *knows* he's going to do what's right. My impression is that he was horrified when he learned what would have happened if Amy hadn't stopped him.

There's also the fact that the person who taught him everything he knows is involved, along with Kotko having made her.
Centcomm 20th Mar 2014, 1:55 AM edit delete reply

points at Velvetsanity :D
Sheela 24th Mar 2014, 2:30 PM edit delete reply

*points at spiderman

:D
Timotheus 20th Mar 2014, 2:31 AM edit delete reply
I suspect a neurosurgeon is in some way trying to perform an intentional botch job. International espionage and cybernetic warfare has reared its ugly little head again. Someone wasn't supposed to escape from a Russian mining station.
cattservant 20th Mar 2014, 2:56 AM edit delete reply

Well, we certainly don't know the fate of Captain Perov!
Tokyo Rose 20th Mar 2014, 10:32 AM edit delete reply

Considering that the neurosurgeon is one of the specialists sent by THE Specialist, the likelihood of that would be somewhere between "Edward Snowden releases archive photos of Fred Phelps being caught in a porta-potty at EuroDisney engaged in a steamy three-way with Richard Simmons and Liberace" and "Pol Pot, Adolf Hitler, and Josef Stalin are reincarnated as the Powerpuff Girls".
Dragonrider 20th Mar 2014, 11:05 AM edit delete reply

Yaknow either one of those sounds some here between gross and kinky I think I vote for the Fred Phelps one.
Dragonrider 20th Mar 2014, 10:39 PM edit delete reply

Guess voting for the Fred Phelps one is out of the question now.
Tokyo Rose 23rd Mar 2014, 7:16 PM edit delete reply

Hey, archive photos are forever, man!
Centcomm 20th Mar 2014, 4:52 PM edit delete reply

The Surgeon is already vetted as a friendly and trustable :D
Sheela 20th Mar 2014, 9:06 PM edit delete reply

I think it's more a case of the neurosurgeon feeling she's being spoken down to, sorta like how a grownup will sometimes speak to a dumb little child.
And she's taking offense at that.

"Pol Pot, Adolf Hitler, and Josef Stalin are reincarnated as the Powerpuff Girls"

This now has to happen ! XD
cherub 22nd Mar 2014, 5:50 PM edit delete reply
If you can think it there is a slash fic for it.
Tokyo Rose 24th Mar 2014, 8:17 PM edit delete reply

And now I'm half tempted to do an incredibly offensive Photoshop. I wish I could draw much better than I do :D
Sheela 24th Mar 2014, 9:48 PM edit delete reply

Oh ?
I thought that was what you kept Centcomm around for ? :D
mjkj 20th Mar 2014, 3:50 AM edit delete reply

Yayyy, dr. creep is going to save Galina.

I just wonder how he knew - did he study Galina's schematics?

And no, a flashed Galina is no good...

PS: it looks like May has three legs in panel three. *hugs May*
Tokyo Rose 20th Mar 2014, 10:29 AM edit delete reply

May and Captain Yukimura are standing right next to each other. That "third" leg is the Captain's, not a sudden manifestation of May being exposed to cosmic radiation. :D
Centcomm 20th Mar 2014, 4:53 PM edit delete reply

hehe its proably because of the angle and the fact they are both wearing black .. :D
mjkj 20th Mar 2014, 6:39 PM edit delete reply

Yeah, I thought it was somebody else's - but it still looks like a three-legged May :p

Kiku blends right in with the background and her second leg is behind (as in closer to the background) and in-front of Carla's

I wonder what Mayyday will say to a three-legged May... :P ...need to change the spelling then, I think, it needs to be Mayyy then...
Vivocateur 20th Mar 2014, 4:12 AM edit delete reply

I fancy he suffers from over specialization: quite good in his one area but poor in most others, and lacking a wider context.
Centcomm 20th Mar 2014, 4:54 PM edit delete reply

Actually he Excels at his given profession. :D
Sheela 20th Mar 2014, 9:07 PM edit delete reply

What he suffers from right now, is lack of information, Galina's case was specifically hidden from him.
Hornet 20th Mar 2014, 11:30 AM edit delete reply
Nice to see how Granger reacts when given the proper information.
Centcomm 20th Mar 2014, 4:55 PM edit delete reply

Granger suffers from a HUGE lack of bedside manners./..needless to say he does not get out much socially :D
Sheela 20th Mar 2014, 9:11 PM edit delete reply

Well, not everyone likes to be social butterflies.
And nothing wrong with that!

Sometimes the social butterflies reacts badly to someone like Dr Granger, and ends up keeping information from people such as he, when they should in fact have informed him - You could say, that to some degree, this was their fault too.

That said, people also have the right to stay away from someone they find as creepy as a bag of scorpions.

In the end, it becomes a bit of Column A and a bit of Column B, and pointing blame at one another becomes meaningless as long as she still needs saving.
It's in cases like that, that pure intellect, knowledge and experience starts to show who's good at what they do, and who's not.
rfaramir 20th Mar 2014, 4:58 PM edit delete reply
So, are the "compliance errors from the Russian auto-doc" the first (ignored) sign that the shiny neurosurgeon ought to desist?

Glad the former bad guy noticed and made it really clear!
Timotheus 20th Mar 2014, 5:26 PM edit delete reply
Just considering what Galina's former job at Nadia was and how much information on other peoples systems she might have in her head plus the way you've been depicting the surgical errors multiplying plus the fact that who she is and what her nature is has only just now become known in certain circles might cause certain agencies to want to take preemptive measures to make sure what she knows to remain unknown.
Tokyo Rose 20th Mar 2014, 5:31 PM edit delete reply

Keep in mind that Gali's body is very complicated. Never attribute to malice what can be adequately explained by ignorance, to paraphrase Hanlon. :D
Sheela 20th Mar 2014, 9:13 PM edit delete reply

I thought it was stupidity and not ignorance ?
Ah well, they are both parts of the same issue.
Hornet 20th Mar 2014, 10:32 PM edit delete reply
Difference is one can be cured with the application of instruction. The other can not.

@ rfaramir, Yes, but she thought she knew better...
Tokyo Rose 23rd Mar 2014, 7:20 PM edit delete reply

Hornet nailed the reason why I stated it was a paraphrasing of Hanlon's original line :D
Stormwind13 20th Mar 2014, 9:47 PM edit delete reply

Inconceivable, Rose. :-D

For a conspiracy theorist, never attribute to ignorance what you can assign to something esoteric and probably scary. :-D
Centcomm 20th Mar 2014, 9:35 PM edit delete reply

That is one way to look at things :D
Sheela 21st Mar 2014, 4:51 AM edit delete reply

Even conspiracy Theorists have to acknowledge a certain amount of .. stupidity, among the ... publically elected officials.

*whew* ... I think I got away with that one. :)
Stormwind13 21st Mar 2014, 5:52 PM edit delete reply

Nope, Sheela. They don't have to acknowledge ANYTHING, but their pet theory of the week/month/year/decade/century... :-D

Not even that some dogs are slobbery and like to nibble on toes, even as cold drool envelopes their feet. :-D
cattservant 20th Mar 2014, 10:36 PM edit delete reply

There is a lot going on here in a seriously constrained time frame.
All of which is being performed by an ad hoc committee of high achieving strangers.
Hopefully they won't produce a robo-camel!
I'm sure with enough practice they would become a highly proficient team.
cattservant 20th Mar 2014, 10:49 PM edit delete reply

Also Ms. Rose's nano-adrenaline must be surging right about now!
talantus 21st Mar 2014, 12:20 AM edit delete reply
haha! i knew the doc wasn't as bad as the critics said! CALLED IT! :P( a while ago)

on a side note, i'm surprised the russian doc isn't also telling the human doctor of her results and analyse of Galina, i mean she DID make a full scan of our favorite cyborg/unique organism. i mean, even tough she definitively wouldn't be considered sentient, shouldn't they have at least referred to her databank?
Sheela 21st Mar 2014, 4:54 AM edit delete reply

Hmmm .. interesting .. I have been referring to Auto Doc using male adjectives and never really thought about wether Auto Doc would have a male or a female voice / personality ?

Curious.
But then again, the difference between a strong russian female and a normal russian male, aren't all that big. :D
velvetsanity 21st Mar 2014, 10:24 AM edit delete reply

Doc's voice is clearly based on whoever did the Russian dub for Dr. McCoy :D
Centcomm 21st Mar 2014, 4:56 PM edit delete reply

"Auto-Doc" is technicly Gender-less..
However his default voice is Male and yes its patterened on the Star Trek Doctor MaCoy as he was VERY popular ( he was even made a honorary "Doctor" by the AMA ( DaForest Kelly was :D )
velvetsanity 23rd Mar 2014, 10:42 AM edit delete reply

*true story here*
An army buddy once told me about this girl he went to school with...her parents were from russia, she was 5'1", looked like a supermodel, and weighed over 200lbs...all compact, dense muscle. She was crazy strong and knew how to use it. Apparently she literally punched a hole in a locker one time...but you couldn't tell she had any strength at all just looking at her.

...thinking about it, maybe she was an android or cyborg? :P
Sheela 24th Mar 2014, 2:34 PM edit delete reply

There were some hormone treatment programs using teenagers back in the 80's that produced some hulking female athletes.

Not all of them went all the way though, and many of those participated in student exchange programs. It could have easily been one of those.

On top of that, hard fieldwork and not enough food will often build denser muscles than bodybuilding. So it could be that too.

Besides, the right kind of clothes can really hide a lot of muscle. :)
cattservant 21st Mar 2014, 10:53 AM edit delete reply

@Centcomm: Here's a 'micro-couple' for you.
Centcomm 21st Mar 2014, 4:57 PM edit delete reply

HAHAH ok funny :D
Johninaustin 21st Mar 2014, 1:48 PM edit delete reply
Darn it, I was sooo hoping for an airlock scene. :(
Centcomm 21st Mar 2014, 4:58 PM edit delete reply

Well there might be a airlock scene .. just not that one.. Dr Granger isnt actually a bad person - he just messed up. and got caught up in the tech.
Hornet 24th Mar 2014, 5:04 PM edit delete reply
Know I'm going to get scolded for this.
But while at first I didn't like Granger, Ii have a feeling if he keeps developing and doesn't revert to thinking of Galina as a machine, I'm going to actually start liking the guy.
XRzer04 24th Mar 2014, 11:06 PM edit delete reply
Excellent point about the autodoc in regards to communicating with the meatbrains in the room. This system has already been observed communicating verbally with the staff, so why is the newcomer in the Terry Gilliam lab coat and the cop shades behaving as if the autodoc were too dumb to talk to herself?
cattservant 24th Mar 2014, 11:35 PM edit delete reply

That's a pertinent point!
Anon 28th Mar 2014, 3:36 AM edit delete reply
So Granger isn't evil - he honestly thought he was dealing with a normal (but freakishly advanced) machine that merely thought it was a person due to programing problems (Kotko's innovations seem to have been largely considered impossible). Once he realized she was truly sentient, he was properly horrified and will make it up by helping save the day.

(he's still an arrogant jerk, but so that's forgivable).
